A psychic medium spoke about bananas and I knew it was for me

When we think about psychic mediums, we first think about the bad ones, the 'Mystic Megs' of the world who pull twenty names out of a hat or talk about everyone's baking grandmothers. And to be fair, a good medium is as rare as hen's teeth (as my own grandma would have said).

Some sitters when they go for a reading, decide they are going to 'test' mediums, by having an agreed code word with their passed loved one to come through with, or by refusing to believe unless the medium mentions a specific memory, or nickname. And that's OK, but bear in mind that a medium is only as good as their interpretation skills and so may not be able to pick up on specifics on demand. But some of them can.

A fantastic thing happened when I went to see a demonstration by UK medium Tony Stockwell earlier this year. I wasn't hoping for a message from the spirit world - but I was looking for a tutor for my own mediumship development. The demonstration was for around 30 people at Tony's own spiritual centre in Essex. As I was getting ready to go out, I spoke to my dad (in spirit) in my mind and said 'Dad, if Tony is the right teacher for me at this time, get him to speak about... I don't know, bananas?" Then I went out and promptly forgot about my request.

I was happily enjoying the evening and Tony was on his third or fourth recipient when he said to the woman he was reading for, "and did he like bananas? Banana milkshake, banana-flavoured everything? I've just got a lot of bananas". The woman couldn't understand the information. "And I want to go up the country now, a very northern accent" again, she said no. Well my dad was a Geordie, and that was definitely a lot of bananas! The reading moved on and it was just as if my dad had 'popped in' to fulfil my request. It was one of those moments where you can't quite believe what you've just seen.

Of course, it could have been a coincidence, but what a strange one if so. People often scoff at the idea that mediums are communicating with the dead. But unless you have experienced receiving a very specific message (and let's face it, the majority of mediums aren't in this ball park) then why would you believe? As I said, a good deal of mediums offering readings are 'under-developed'. But if you have experienced a very personal or specific message delivered by a psychic medium... you just know the afterlife is real..
