I had started to receive psychic information when I began reading the tarot for other people. I'd see a flash of an image (clairvoyance) or a one-word message (clairaudience), and pass it on to my recipient. In an environment such as a 1-1 or email reading this worked well, I wasn't under any pressure to 'perform'. However, when I was asked to read tarot at events, where there was a queue of expectant people at my table, my psychic awareness didn't work as expected. There were no pictures, videos and helpful aural hints to help me out. Just me and the cards... Or so I thought.
People expect a lot from a tarot reading. I've had clients sit down and say 'I'm not telling you my question, you tell me why I'm here" and "I don't want to give anything away". Inferring that they want you to be a mind-reader as well as psychic! When people arrive with a 'prove it' attitude, it makes the energy needed for psychic reading shrivel up. But here were my clients, sitting facing me at this busy wellness festival, expecting some amazing evidence. What could I do? I started to feel a little panicky.
Yet something strange was happening. As I was looking at the cards laid out (I always use a ten card Celtic Cross spread to get a full overview of the energies around the client), the information just passed through me, as if from somewhere else. I was 'aware' that one person had stopped their healing practice after an incident destroyed their self-belief. I was 'aware' that another person, who asked about their love life, was actually going to work abroad for many years and that would bring greater fulfillment. All verified by the sitters. But then came another tricky customer.
I had started speaking about their current situation, and had received three "no" replies in a row. "This isn't going very well is it?" They said, arms folded. I took a few seconds to collect my thoughts. I asked my guides to help me out. I took a deep breath and became aware of information coming to mind. "You have three children, they are young adults but they still live at home," I began. "Yes that's right", they replied - and then I was back on track.
I don't like to think of experiences in the psychic development sphere as 'tests', but I do think that we are encouraged not to rely on receiving information in a specific way. It is part of our development, not only to carry on in a difficult scenario, but to start to trust that the information we receive will be correct whether it arrives in a visual symbol or simply an awareness.
